Volunteers are required to commit to weekly visits with their matched patient for a minimum period of 1 hour. This commitment ensures consistent support and relationship-building between volunteers and patients.
To join CONNEXXUS, start by submitting a volunteer application. If selected, you will participate in an interview to discuss your fit with our goals. After acceptance, attend a training session to learn essential skills for patient interaction. You’ll then be matched with a patient and begin your weekly visits.
Volunteers will receive comprehensive training that covers patient interaction, understanding hospital policies, and best practices for providing emotional support. Ongoing support will be available to address any challenges and ensure a positive volunteering experience.
Yes, we believe that building a consistent relationship with a single patient is beneficial for both the volunteer and the patient. This approach helps foster trust and deeper connections, making the experience more meaningful.
Activities can vary based on the patient’s interests and needs. Common activities include having conversations, playing games, reading together, or simply providing a listening ear. The goal is to offer companionship and emotional support in a way that best suits the patient.
Volunteers must be at least 15 years old to participate in CONNEXXUS. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference.
To apply, please complete the volunteer application form available on our website or contact us at projectconnexxus@gmail.com for more information. We look forward to welcoming you to our compassionate community.
